For about ten years (the pandemic stopped the gatherings) the men’s and women’s book clubs were invited to a joint get-together each June to share poetry at the lake at Rambie and Fran Briggs’ home on Lake Travis in Lago Vista. The Briggses provided the scenery, barbecue and beverages, and the members brought additional dishes. The members brought poetry to read aloud, often their own works. It had become a high point of clubs' literary year.
